Our team members have obtained their education in prestigious international universities and have research and practical knowledge in multiple fields of Afghanistan’s economy.

Sediqa Zaki
Sediqa Zaki holds a master’s degree in development practice from the University of California, Berkeley, and a second master’s degree in economics. She has been active in the field of economics and development for over a decade. Currently, Sediqa is a researcher with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Her previous experience includes working with UN WFP where she analyzed food security issues in Afghanistan. She has also served as a senior expert in economic analysis at the Ministry of Economy and as a gender-responsive budgeting specialist at the Ministry of Finance. Her research interests include macroeconomics, the impact of international aid, and gender economics.
Ahmad Mohammadi
Ahmad Mohammadi is currently pursuing a master’s degree in development economics and Emerging Markets at the University of York, focusing his research on development economics. He also holds a master’s degree in development economics. Ahmad has extensive experience working in academia teaching and leading the Department of Economics at Kateb University. Ahmad is particularly interested in the challenges faced by developing economies and is eager to contribute to this field through his studies and research.
Mohammad Mahdi Shafaei
Mohammad Mahdi Shafaei is an expert in financial economics, holding a bachelor’s degree in business economics and a master’s degree in development economics and planning from the University of Tehran. He has served as a lecturer at several universities in Kabul. Mohammad believes that investing in education, especially early-stage learning, is crucial for Afghanistan’s prosperity. Passionate about teaching entrepreneurship, he has initiated new ventures in tourism. He emphasizes integrating practical experiences with theoretical knowledge in university curricula and recently organized the global start-up weekend program at Kateb University.
Ali Ansari
Ali Ansari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and a Master’s degree in Economic Sciences. He has teaching experience at universities in Afghanistan. He has worked as a research expert in the field of banking and has also been involved in social economics, leading the Tabassum Foundation. His research interests include migration economics and trade economics.
Mohammad Eisa Rezaie
Mohammad Eisa Rezaie is a seasoned economist with a Master’s degree in Economic Development and Planning from Tehran University’s Faculty of Economics. He has dedicated nearly a decade to teaching economics at the university level, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic pursuits. Beyond the classroom, Rezaei is a skilled writer and journalist, effectively communicating complex economic concepts to a broad audience. His research expertise lies in the critical areas of social and economic development and the intricacies of monetary and banking policies. Currently, he contributes significantly to the Afghanistan Economic Studies Center as an active member.
